Dr. Mildred A. Mudany

Mildred has over 25 years of experience developing, implementing, and coordinating interdisciplinary teams to execute health organizational policies and systems.

She is the acting chancellor of Kisii University (2019-2022) and chair of the Kisii University Council. In this role, she provides governance leadership and oversight to produce quality education, research, and academic excellence.

Mildred is the cofounder and CEO of Help REACH Africa, a local nonprofit focused on maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH); youth and adolescent sexual and reproductive health and empowerment; HIV/AIDS; and health systems strengthening.

She is a former Kenya country director for Jhpiego where she ran 16 projects and managed over 250 staff working in 32 counties. She led and managed Jhpiego’s largest and most complex country-level USAID grant as chief of party for APHIAplus Kamili, a $118 million integrated services project with 200 project staff, which served nine million Kenyans across 11 counties in eastern and central Kenya from 2011 to 2015.

Mildred is also a capacity advisor for leadership and governance for IntraHealth International’s USAID-funded Accelerated Support for Advanced Local Partners (ASAP) project.

Mildred has a PhD in tropical medicine from Tokyo Women’s Medical University, a master’s degree in pediatric medicine from the University of Nairobi, and a bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery from the University of Nairobi.
